Problems with parking

Reported anonymously at 13:37, Thu 7 March 2019

For the sake of traffic using Lansdown Road in Bath, please could the Council review the lack of parking restrictions on a very short stretch of this road? Outside Lansdown Mansions (opposite Lansdown Place East) is a recessed parking bay for use of the Mansions only. Uphill of this bay is a very short stretch where there are no parking restrictions - about 2 - 3 car lengths - then there is a marked parking bay on the highway. This unmarked section is the section to which I refer. Many regular users of Lansdown Rd know that the unmarked stretch is actually a pinch point, and if any vehicle parks there (which they can legally at present) it reduces the road to one lane only. When there are lorries, coaches and Park & Ride buses going up and down this road all day, reducing it to one lane creates a dreadful backlog. For some reason, recently there has been a lot more parking at that point, sometimes by vans as well as cars, and there have been quite a few traffic jams. I cannot remember whether there were yellow lines on the unmarked stretch before the road was resurfaced last year, but personally I believe that parking should be prohibited between the recessed bay and the marked parking bay, so that the log jam effect is prevented. Thank you for looking into this. I had to choose an incorrect subcategory. Sorry.
