Footpath between Batheaston and Box

Reported anonymously at 08:46, Tue 10 September 2019

I would like to bring to your attention the footpath between Bathford and Box which borders Wiltshire, and Bath and Northeast Somerset and highlight the difficulties I encountered today on this stretch of pathway. The footpath in many places are overgrown and reclaimed by hedges, grass and earth. Overhanging bushes and hedges forced me out on to the road to get past. As there are many bends on this stretch of road, it was difficult to see approaching traffic and the space between what is left of narrow pathway and the traffic is only centimetres, putting both pedestrian and driver at risk of collision. Due to the amount of wood chippings, debris, clumps of grass and stingers, it was difficult to walk without loosing my footing and went down on my ankle a few times, posing a risk of falling at the kerb. Protruding nettles, have caused scratches, stings, to my feet, and arms and damage to clothing as they got caught in protruding bushes, twigs, and branches. Overhanging foliage, forced me to duck and twist on passing, I thought how disabled access, or access with a prams.would be impossible. A jogger came past in the opposite direction and he ran past me by running on the road, which was near one of the bends.
