Health and Safety Issue regarding direct access by small children to unfinished skateboard pit from adjacent sand pit.

Reported anonymously at 14:46, Fri 16 April 2021

The damaged plastic mesh attached to the security barriers around the unfinished skateboard 'pit' (which is being used constantly by young people) enables young children to gain direct access to the 'pit'. I witnessed a young mum scooping up her baby to pursue her toddler under the mesh. The toddler then escaped into the main park under the mesh on the far side of the skateboarding area and headed towards the road at the exit of the park - truly terrifying for the mother. She was lucky that the pit was actually free of skate boarders as he entered the unfinished area but it had not been so a few minutes earlier. While this issue needs immediate attention I am really concerned about the proximity of the 'pit' to the sandpit. The youngsters who use the 'pit' are extremely skilled but they perform their tricks at tremendous speed and although it is unlikely that they (the youngsters themselves) would scale any permanent fence, a freak accident might see one of their boards doing so and causing terrible injuries to any small child who might be using the sand pit.
