Wells Road Reported by Katherine Bargent Morrish at 21:11, Tue 22 November 2022 Please help , we have bought and moved into a house (70 Wells Road ) and have become very aware of heavy vehicles and speeding on the bend coming downhill past Upper Oldfield Park . The heavy vehicles literally shake the house all day . So much so our light sensor as you approach our door to detect movement comes on multiple times day and night from the vibrations. I totally understand it is a main road but the heavy vehicles, buses, lorries must be effecting the air quality as well as the foundations on all the houses . I was wondering if this has ever been looked at , is there alternative routes that heavy loads can take? Also , I would kindly request if a speed camera van could come and monitor the speed people come down (and especially on the bend near Upper Oldfield Park , BA2 ) . I ask as there are lots of people who walk along Wells Road , school children of all ages , mums with buggies , and people going to work. In my situation I have a disabled mum who lives with us and often I have to park outside our house when I am taking her to the hospital and Doctors appointments as she can’t walk very far ( 70 Wells Road ) the speed at which the cars , lorries and buses going around the bend is frightening as they appear to pick up speed and drivers may not consider that a person may be trying to get someone in a car . Drivers driving at speed would not have time to see us , and slow down from the bend going downhill so they could either swerve to the other side of the road or hit us . Is there anything that can be done to slow traffic on that bend , maybe a 20mph sign , a speed camera ? or even a speeding camera van to see what the average speed of drivers are for week to then look at the data to decide what can be done ? Thank you Kate Bargent Morrish I understand facilities are overstretched at the moment but I ask as a concerned person in the local community that would like to walk and take my mum out safely in my community.
