Blocked gullies in Longwood Lane (which runs south from Manor Road to Gypsy Lane)

Reported in the Blocked drain: Blockage inside drain category anonymously at 13:19, Thu 26 April 2018

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council 10 minutes later. Council ref: 1295235.

I wish to report that no action has been taken regarding blocked gullies in Longwood Lane (which runs south from Manor Road to Gypsy Lane) which I reported to Wessex water on the 11/01/2018, who said they had passed this on to BNES, I don’t know whether they actually informed you about this long-standing problem. I understand B&NEs are responsible for road gulley emptying.

To my knowledge these drains have been totally neglected for at least 12 years all these drains are filled with mud and leaves. In wet weather these blockages are causing a continuous stream of water to cascade down the lane, when it freezes and thaws it has in the past broken up the tarmac causing damage to the road surface.

I note you have recently renewed parts of the road surface in Longwood Lane (which runs south from Manor Road to Gypsy Lane) for which thank you, but until BNES rectify the 'causes of the problem' i.e. Blocked Gulleys this money will be wasted, there are already signs of erosion along the edge of the recent work.

Please could you examine this problem and deal with the unblocking of the drains. Also see the Manor Road (where it runs parallel to Montague Road) section between Montague Rd. Saltford and it’s intersection with Longwood Lane, where a number of potholes need attention as well. These have probably also been caused by water flowing from Longwood Lane.

This problem is causing a danger to pedestrians and cyclists on this part of the dedicated cycle track
