Blocked Drain Causing Surface Water Issue and Traffic Safety Risk
Reported in the Blocked drain: Blockage inside drain category by David Orme at 10:02, Fri 8 February 2019
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council 3 minutes later. Council ref: 1536475.
The drain shown, which flows through a pipe at 90 degrees to the lane directly into the Cam Brook, was jetted a while ago as part of a package of work agreed with BANES Drainage & Flooding team to reduce the surface water and flooding risks in Dunkerton. Sadly, the drain has blocked again and (as another drain a few metres beyond has also blocked) a significant and persistent surface water issue has arisen again. I have tried lifting the cover and emptying the gully of sand by hand but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. I don't have any rods long or strong enough to attempt a DIY clearance of the pipe. The problem here is that the ponding and water flow across the lane occurs where the carriageway widens and the area is used frequently as a turning area by residents, visitors and tradesmen. In icy and frosty conditions such as we experienced recently the whole area turns into an ice rink - one car was abandoned here for a few days until the thaw as a result. If the flow (through the upper drain only) into the Cam Brook was re-established, the problem would go away again.

Hi I don't know whether anyone has jetted the drain but it is now running clear and the issue is resolved. Maybe my DIY gully clearance made some difference after all.
