The pavement at the north end of Gloucester Rd as it approaches Tadwick Lane is heavily overgrown with tree/bush branches obstructing pedestrian access

Reported in the Obstructive vegetation category anonymously at 14:28, Monday 20 May 2019

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council 1 minute later. Council ref: 1635033.

The pavement at the north end of Gloucester Rd, from the underpass (Nightingale Cottage) all the way up to Tadwick Lane, is heavily overgrown with tree/bush branches obstructing pedestrian access (it continues in parts all the way down Gloucester Road as well, but is particularly bad at the top) and is getting increasingly worse over recent weeks. We need to duck to walk along the pavement, my daughter can no longer use her scooter safely and when we walk, I often need to step into the road as it's not clear enough for us to walk side by side on the pavement. I've also noticed adults walking in the road as I drive along which is worrying with the blind bends and 40mph speed limit. If these trees/bushes could please be cut back to open up the pavement again, that would be great.

Updates

  • This hasn't been sorted and now vegetation is blocking the pavement, so pedestrians have to walk in the road. In places it even protrudes into the road so cyclists have to veer into traffic to avoid being hit by branches. It also now extends into Tadwick Lane as you enter Upper Swainswick village.

  • School children walking to swainswick school have to walk on the road on some parts of the pavement. Taller adults have to double over to get passed.

There are hidden road signs showing the steep bend, cars have crashed here in the last few years. They don’t know the corner approaching the A46 is so steep
