I am concerned about the cars parking on the pavement in Fortescue Road, it is happening on a daily basis. Not only do they park upon the pavement but they zoom along the pavement until they come to a stop right up against the steps of the shops on Fortescue Road. I am surprised no one has been knocked down yet!! It will only take a second for a unsuspecting child to be knocked down. Also it forces the pedestrians onto the road, I have seen people with children in pushchairs and people in wheelchairs forced onto the road to get past. Also the local schools are near by and parents walk their children to and from school along this road, and the schools venture out into the local area and frequently use Fortescue Road. It it my concern for the public, especially the children’s welfare that forces me to contact you regarding this matter. Also this issue causes issues for other road users as they struggle to get by, and if anything is said to the people causing the obstruction they usually get very confrontational resulting in aggressive behaviour/bad language. I have supplied a couple of pictures, one shows 2 vehicles parked on the pavement, the other is the view from my workplace showing how close they are to the steps. The vehicles usually park from outside Thompson’s hardware right along past the Indian take away. When people are leaving one of the shops they would not expect a car to be zooming along the pavement, especially children who normally run on ahead of their parents!! If you have any questions please let me know and I will do my best to answer them.
Thank you for your report, it will be reviewed by the appropriate team.
