Kerb difficult to negotiate for wheelchair users
Reported in the Pavement damage category anonymously at 21:41, Mon 7 October 2019
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council 25 minutes later. Council ref: 1796340.
This bit of kerb in the middle of the pavement outside Radway House is very difficult to negotiate with a buggy and even more of an obstacle for wheelchair users. (It used to ajoin a road entrance to the filling station which used to be here, but it no longer serves any purpose.) There is a pothole (circled) exactly where the back wheel of a buggy stops as you lean on the handle to lift the front wheel, meaning you then can't push the buggy to move forwards. The lamp-post pictured doesn't help as it makes the pavement narrower so the pothole cannot be avoided. Given that the pavement on the other side of the road (in the second photo) is so narrow and blocked by lamp-posts that it isn't passable by a single pedestrian let alone a buggy or wheelchair user, the only alternative is to walk in the road in order to use a dropped kerb further along the street. This is extremely dangerous as it is right next to the busy junction with Wellsway. Oolite Road is a busy route for pedestrians, including children with scooters and people with buggies, being part of the school run for two different primary schools. There is at least one wheelchair user living locally as well as many elderly people who can struggle with steps. One or two bags of tarmac would be enough to fill the pothole and create a small ramp making it so much easier for do many people.

A few weeks some white lines & marks were drawn in the pavement near to the awkward kerb - I don't know if this means someone will be coming to fix it sometime (soon, hopefully!)
