Hi, I’ve been a Bath resident for around 6-7 years and I’m a huge fan. You guys do a lot of good work to preserve the history and the city’s old fashioned charm. So definitely thumbs up for that. However I had an accident yesterday, an accident that I was always wondered when would it happen. I was running along Pulteney Road, on the right side going towards the station. I’ve done this route before, 100 of times, especially when I was prepping for BathHalf. Many other runners do too but boy that sidewalk is one dangerous route. It’s pitch black as the street lighting is covered by trees, it’s so uneven it going through it makes you feel like you’re hiking and in fall/winter times it’s downright deadly. During fall the wet leaves will create an ice-rink effect, during winter times the wet&frozen leaves will create an ice-rink effect. It’s been ignored ever since I moved here. I know full well the trees are causing the issue with their roots, and I have no intention in suggesting to remove the trees, please don’t but surely there are other ways to tackle this issue. You could look into raising the sidewalk slightly. I’ve attached a photo of my knee, it may not look bad but I can barely bend my knee and I’m limping today and it will take a good couple of weeks to recover from this. Not ideal when I’m training for another half marathon but I’m dealing with it. The reason I’m writing though isn’t really me, I’ll be fine but what if this happens to a kid or an elderly who already has trouble walking? It’s so dark nobody would notice the fall and he or she could be lying there for a while before somebody walks by, mainly because not one person told me that they’re trying to avoid walking there during winter for all of the reasons I’ve mentioned above. I do genuinely hope that my message will reach the right people and that you will consider acting on it. Thank you for your time Zsuzsi Laczo 34 Grosvenor Place
