Dangerous Flooding

Reported in the Flooding of a road or pavement category anonymously at 10:57, Fri 15 November 2019

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council 5 minutes later. Council ref: 1847751.

There is a stretch of road at this location that for over a decade has been a problem with water running all over the road due to what we have been told in the past is due to tree roots blocking the main gully. Added to this problem now is that recently a telecommunications company has dug trenches in this area and now the water is also leaching out of them, so spreading the problem. this has not been a safety problem during the summer months but now that winter has approached us it now is as this will turn into a nasty down hill skating rink. this is also the route the school coaches take twice a day so some urgent action needs to be taken..

  • Since my original report the situation due to the heavy rain has become more dangerous as we now have large pot holes appearing because the water is pushing up the tarmac in places.

  • The Council used a tanker to clear two drains in this area but it had no effect on the main flooding problem with a drain higher up still unable to take away the surface water as it is still blocked plus none of the pot holes caused by this excessive amount of water have been addressed. This is not a let’s send in a tanker and clear a couple of drains this is a let’s sort this serious problem out properly and not let it go on for another ten years.
