Faded double yellows / frequent dangerous Illeagal parking

Reported in the Faded road markings category anonymously at 11:55, Wed 24 June 2020

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2170579.

Double Yellow lines on the corner of Cythia Road / St Kildas road are faded to the point of not being visible, as a result large trucks are frequently parking Illeagally and blocking the drop curb for disabled access and the textured pavement crossing for the blind. It is a dangerous corner and additional traffic here blocks council vehicles that need access to the top of St Kildas Road to the linear path and to all delivery vehicles that require access to Moorland Road shops (such as Sainsburys and Coop).

  • Faded double yellow lines still haven't been repainted.

Delivery truck could not turn this morning because of the car parked not only where the double yellow have faded but also blocking the drop curb for the disabled and textured pavement for the blind. The truck mounted the curb on the corner and almost hit me.

As I looked up there was a parking inspector who I spoke to who said they were unable to ticket the car because the lines are faded ! I told him I had reported this 4 months ago and nothing had been done. He said that he cannot ticket the car unless it is a foot over the drop curb eventhough where it was parked was clearly way over where the yellow lines had faded. There is no way a blind person or child would be seen by oncoming traffic on this dangerous corner with cars parked where yellow lines exist but have faded (through people repeatedly parking on them). It is dangerous and only a matter of time before someone is hurt.
