Emergency vehicle access blocked
Reported in the Obstruction on road or pavement category anonymously at 09:33, Mon 13 July 2020
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2197496.
On the corner of hillside gardens and a368 vehicles are parked too close to the junction. This has previously been reported. It is a hazard as an ambulance or a fire truck would NOT be able to get past. Please paint lines on the road stopping vehicles from parking too close to the junction. The seat vehicle is ‘for sale’, whilst the Vauxhall is too close to the junction. The construction vehicle is blocking access for emergency vehicles.

Our traffic wardens can issue parking tickets for parking on double yellow lines or other parking restrictions, but we can’t respond to issues of pavement parking when there are no restrictions in place. Yellow line parking restrictions can only be introduced or amended on the public highway with the support of a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO). The process that must be followed to establish a TRO usually takes a number of months to complete and includes consultation with interested parties (often including local residents and businesses), the public advertisement of the proposals and the resolution of any objections – as such there is not an option to simply paint lines or put up a ‘no parking’ sign. The decision on which parking restrictions will be included in each area are made by the Traffic Management Team, you may contact them on Traffic_ManagementTeam@BATHNES.GOV.UK. Where parking is causing an obstruction to passage of vehicles, particularly the emergency services, or there is danger please phone the Police on 101.
