Overhanging Brambles and tree suckers
Reported in the Vegetation overhanging a road or pavement from private land or property category anonymously at 10:13, Tue 21 July 2020
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2209792.
I reported the problem to Councillor Simmons some 6 weeks or so ago and he told me The Highways had looked at the problem and it was. British Rail problem to sort that they had requested them to do. The brambles overhang the road up to 4 feet or more and the tree suckers are growing to 6 feet or more all Ned cutting back urgently and British Rail take too long to respond. As the tree saplings and brambles scratch my car as I try to pass the parked vehicles in their respective parking spaces I ask you to cut back all these overhangs and charge British Rail and I will be submitting a claim for any scratches I can’t remove. As a ratepayer I respectfully expect some urgent action please.

Brambles and trees along entirety of The Avenue, making road impassable in places when cars are parked outside of properties. Particularly outside 5 + 6 The Avenue. These need to be cut right back to railway fence. These are also obscuring yellow lines and therefore inviting illegal parking

Hello, we followed up with Network Rail further to the most recent update and note your observations, however the Council would only intervene to cut back third party vegetation where we consider it to be a substantial safety risk.
In this instance, The Avenue is a dead end lane with low levels of vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and the overgrowth is not impinging onto the footway. We don’t consider this at a level sufficient to require immediate intervention, however we have emphasised the concerns to Network Rail.
We will continue to monitor the situation and if not addressed then may consider alternative action.

The vegetation here does not belong to the Council, but we have asked the responsible party to take action. We are closing this report, but will check that the work has been done within the appropriate timescale and take further action if needed.
