Faded road signage B3130 junction at Stanton Drew.
Reported in the Faded road markings category anonymously at 10:27, Fri 31 July 2020
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2224610.
The road between the two junctions at Stanton Drew on the B3130 has a white line in the middle. This indicates to road uses that the road is sufficiently wide enough for 2 vehicles to pass at speed (no speed limit in place). The Department of transport state that a white line should only be in place for opposing lanes of traffic when the road is a minimum width of 5.5m wide - this section of road averages at 4.8m wide. The Department if Transport further state that when the road is less than 5.5m wide the white line should be omitted and white lines placed at the sides of the road to inform drivers of the road narrowing. There are faded signs approaching the junction that indicate the road narrows but one is faded to white and in readable and both are a significant distance from the narrowing section of road giving conflicting advice due to the white line in the centre of the road.
Vehicles straddle the white line and drive on the cats eyes causing noise pollution as the road is too narrow for 2 cars to pass safely.

Problem reported 31/7/20 BANES Council responded acknowledging the problem and reported works were scheduled with their contractors.
Nothing has been done as of 23/10/20 and the problem remains.
See photo of road section:
Road where shown in red is less than the minimum width of 5.5m permitted by the Department of Transport for having opposing lanes of traffic separated by a white line - at the narrowest point, in front of the house it is nearly 1m too narrow.
Traffic is travelling at 60mph plus on this road - the narrowest point is at the entrance (and only access) to the toll house.
The traffic needs slowing down and passing one car at a time through the narrowest section of the road to prevent accidents.
