Poor condition of Redlands Lane and Bonhill Lane
Reported in the Flooding of a road or pavement category by Barrie Lake at 18:31, Wed 26 August 2020
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2265259.
In Winter conditions the lanes are in a poor state. None of the road drains work, not because they are necessarily blocked. Due to the poor road surface, rain water bypasses them and therefore accumulates as it moves down the lanes. With the rain water mixing with the farmers hedge cuttings the lanes become a soggy mess. To my knowledge the lanes have not been resurfaced for more than 37 yrs. Underground springs become active and break through the road surfaces. There is a long history of complaints. The most urgent issue is regarding highway safety, the Redlands Lane junction with the A368 is very dangerous. A long history also applies. I gather this may be further investigated by an inspector for which I have requested a site meeting in order to explain the problems in detail. This statement is a small part of long outstanding Issues including petitions etc.that have been raised over a number of years.
