Why is the lantern in the children's playground always turned off.?Now that it's dark very quickly during the day, some lighting would come in handy. After 4 p.m. the children are still playing

Apologies for the delay in dealing with this issue. The recreation ground (and any vegetation growing from that land) is the responsibility of Norton Radstock Town Council, but the adopted highway (and any vegetation growing on the adopted highway is the responsibility of B&NES). However there is no record of the Council maintaining vegetation along this stretch of road. We're trying to find out why this is the case and we'll provide an update shortly.

We've looked at our records and the verge to the east of the sports ground fence is part of the adopted highway and so B&NES Parks Team will maintain it. It's not clear why this was never added to the grounds maintenance plans. A team will be there within the coming weeks to cut back the overhanging vegetation and clear the road of debris. The land to the west of the fence is managed by Norton Radstock Council (which presumably includes the lantern in the children's play area). Please direct any enquiries about this space to them.
