Flood defence maintenance

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown vegetation in Council parks and green spaces category anonymously at 10:37, Tue 17 November 2020

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2391702.

The brook along St Saviours road by the local park was put there as a flood defence. If it is not cleared it causes significant flooding that is a threat to the homes and makes the road impassable. In the past residents have had to stand outside on the road to warn traffic coming down Deadmill lane or Ferndale road that the road is completely flooded or they would have driven straight into deep water. The council has not cleared this for some time. Given that it is specifically a flood defence and people's homes are in this vicinity, it is incumbent upon the council to fulfil their responsibility and ensure that this is cleared regularly. It has come to my attention that this may not be done for some time due to staffing issues. This is a flood defence and should be a priority. Each year I have chased this up as I am now. It needs to be done as we have had significant rainfall and the risk is significantly increased.
