Excessive number of bin bags, large items etc

Reported via desktop in the Excessive or dangerous littering category by Saltford Parish Council at 13:36, Wed 25 November 2020

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2404937.

Following the encampment under the bridge beneath the railway path, there is a substantial amount of litter and debris left under the bridge now that those using it have moved on. This includes garden furniture, 10+ bin bags etc. This needs to be removed before it is swept into the river due to rising river levels in the winter. We were informed that B&NES were removing rubbish from this site whilst being used as an encampment however seemingly nothing has been removed for several months.

  • Saltford Parish Council followed this up on 29th Dec. SPC has been informed by B&NES Council that due to the challenges of removing rubbish from this location that a boat is required. An attempt to remove waste via boat in late December was postponed till end of January due to safety and river conditions. B&NES Council has since moved the waste further away from the riverbank so it does not get washed away, and displayed signs on the bridge above saying that they are aware of the waste at this location. Saltford Parish Council has requested that it is kept informed of any updates inc. the date for waste removal in January.
