Two lights out. Not fixed. Whiteway Road Light 23 and 22
Reported via mobile in the Street light fault category anonymously at 12:07, Mon 11 January 2021
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2471791.
Moderated by Bath and North East Somerset Council at 14:02, Mon 11 January 2021
You have closed the earlier report when Lights 22 and 23 are apparently still broken. They are the ones causing the blind/dark corner where the accident and injury occurred. When will these be fixed? I am fearful getting in and out of car that serious injury or worse could occur.

As already confirmed light 23 and 23 are waiting on a repair for damaged cable. This was due to be repaired early in the year and we are now waiting on confirmation of a date from our contractors regarding this. We will add more information to this report when known.

Hi. Some workmen attempted to fix these lights but advised that they need to do more digging etc and could not get “sign off” on the day. This is still dangerous. Cars drive well in excess of 30mph and worried there could be another serious accident, perhaps with even worse consequences. When we they be fixed please?

After attending site our contractors have advised the cable currently feeding these two lights is old and no longer a reliable source of power. Instead a relying on this cable they have recommended a new Feeder Pillar is installed which will be a more reliable source of power and hopefully stop the fault re-occurring. We shall follow this up with our contractors and confirm a date for this works when known.

2 lights still out on this section and should be addressed, particularly in light of recent events. Felt on edge walking along the unlit section.

Yes agreed. It is weeks ago that the contractors on site told me that could have done it there and then if the powers at be had given permission which they did not. It is downright dangerous. Every week there are close calls including a lorry and a bike the other night, which I saw when putting out my rubbish. More lorries than ever now too due to Clean Air Zone in city.

The work to install a new Feeder Pillar to supply the two faulty lights is planned for the week of the 19th April.
We apologise this work has taken so long to plan. As in previous comments, our intention with these works is to ensure the supply to the lights is more reliable and reduce the risk of the fault reoccurring in the future.
We trust the lights will work as normal after the works are complete and thank you for your patience.
We shall add further comments here if needs be.
