Use of e scooters in Sydney Gardens

Reported via desktop in the Park safety issue category anonymously at 12:12, Thursday 25 February 2021

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2571433.

Use of e scooters in Sydney Gardens. Yesterday I was nearly mown down by 3 young men( I suspect students) riding Voi hire E scooters whilst walking in Sydney Gardens which is a heavily used public park. In addition to myself and my dogs there were numerous other dog walkers plus people with toddlers and older children and older people like myself. There are no public roads in this park only pedestrian pathways. Can some signage please be erected to this effect? I have in addition reported this matter to Avon and Somerset Constabulary. In accordance with their guidance, these vehicles are illegal on pathways in parks.

  • Last week I was crossing the road at the green light, on Argyle Bridge /Victoria Art Gallery corner, when I was suddenly surrounded by five young men on E-scooters, turning left off Argyle Bridge (through the pedestrian crossing area) . I jumped back in shock and they shouted apologies and carried on. This cannot continue. There will soon be an awful accident involving a pedestrian.
