Drop Kerb replaced with a stepped Kerb
Reported via desktop in the Pavement damage category anonymously at 16:31, Thu 15 April 2021
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2673568.
Now lockdown is over I pickup my friend from Holcombe Vale and escorted him down Dark Ln then over the canal bridge to the Canal path. He is disabled (Paralysed from waist down) and in an electric wheelchair. His usual route, avoided crossing any roads and using the pavement all the way down to the path. The pavement at this corner location (see pictures, before & after) used have a dropped kerb but since the road and pavement have been resurfaced the dropped kerb now has gone. This has now become very dangerous as the electric wheelchair has to go onto the road in order to get to the other side of the bridge to the path. Cars approach this bend from both directions and its a blind bend too making it even more dangerous. This happened today and an accident very nearly occurred between car and wheelchair. I cannot understand why the original dropped kerb was taken away, I can only imagine this was done in error. This route is his only daily pleasure to be outdoors and along the canal, now its become extremely hazardous and a only a matter of time before a car strikes the wheelchair. Please restore the dropped kerb as it was.

This disabled person continues to use Dark Lane to access the Bridge over the cannel in his electric wheelchair in order to use the George Inn and the cannel path. But as the dropped kerb has still not been re-installed he is still having go onto the road up to the point where a portion of the kerb is dropped before he can access the pavement. The corner of the pavement at the Dark Lane/High St junction used to have a dropped kerb before it was re-tarmacked. Still waiting for the council to prevent a possible accident!!!
