Dangerous entry to roundabout
Reported via desktop in the Road sign damage category anonymously at 21:23, Sat 17 April 2021
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2676752.
Claverton Street that goes into the roundabout under the train bridge in the centre of Bath is massively dangerous. I drive in the centre 4 times a week. Every time I enter the roundabout going from the centre towards Wellsway the cars that drive the Calverton Street do not seem to see the road markings and the sign. I think the signs that are there are not enough. Yesterday I almost had an accident that could have been caused by a driver going down the Claverton Street towards the roundabout. There are 2 lines, so the vehicle on the right hand side has slowly stopped, but the vehicle from the further line (left hand side) has not stopped and if I did not beep my horn we would have collided or I would have had a fatal accident as I am a scooter driver. It is extremely dangerous part of this roundabout, drivers are not checking for the vehicles being already on the roundabout, they drive without stopping. This incident has not happened once. It's been happening very often and I personally have got enough to fear for my life. My family friend had and accident there driving on the round about and the lorry did not stop and collided with him. Luckily he drives a massive van Toyota Hilux and he personally was fine, the car was damaged, but I do not want to think about myself on the scooter colliding even with small, but speeding car. I would like to ask you for some consideration for a bigger and more visible markings/signs or anything that can make drivers moving on the roundabout a bit more safer. I personally fear for my life and every time I drive there I pray there was not cars coming from that side. I hope for your understanding and a positive decision. Thank you
