Lack of adequate drainage

Reported via desktop in the Flooding of a road or pavement category anonymously at 12:37, Monday 24 May 2021

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2745648.

This is an ongoing issue (years). I sat watching the traffic yesterday and cringed at the speed of traffic driving through the flood water waiting for an accident to happen. This was bad enough in daylight, at night there is a very limited view of the danger. Several lorries drove through at speed sending the water into my neighbours garden and I saw a pedestrian hesitate as to whether to use the footpath or not. Additionally,, as shown, vehicles were driving to the opposite side of the road to avoid it with a late bid and no indication.

  • Thank you for your report. There is a blocked section of highway drainage crossing the road near to the entrance to the rowing club. This restriction is causing water to back up. We have engaged with our Contractors to schedule works here. When this will take place is subject to other priorities and resources.
