Dangerously low pavement in Guildhall
Reported via desktop in the Pavement damage category anonymously at 09:06, Wed 16 June 2021
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2795315.
On Thursday 27 May I was walking along Guildhall Street when a woman started behaving oddly in front of the entrance to the Covered Market and was being restrained by others. Stepping out to avoid the fracas, I tripped on the 2-inch low pavement, falling heavily. While I was still lying on the ground, a passing woman remarked, ‘That’s the second time I’ve seen someone trip over that bit of pavement in the past few days.’ If that is the case, then people are probably tripping on that section of pavement frequently. It is now nearly three weeks later and I am still recovering at home. A friend said to me on the phone yesterday, she has read that people are far more likely to trip on a low step than on a deep step which they have to think about negotiating. With this in mind, I wonder whether the Council will consider raising the height of this much-used length of low pavement to make life safer for pedestrians walking through the centre of town.
