Dangerous lip between carriageway & cycle path
Reported via desktop in the Potholes & road surface category anonymously at 11:21, Wed 14 July 2021
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2863879.
Hi. On Saturday 10th I attempted to access this small section of cycle way from the main carriage way on Bath Hill, but the front wheel of my bike got caught on the exposed lip separating the cycle lane from the road. This resulted in my front wheel twisting, losing control and myself ending up on the pavement with cuts to my knees and legs, a broken water bottle holder and damage to the paint and wheel rim of my bike, I am now out of pocket as I need to buy a new bottle holder and have my bike checked out to make sure there is no hidden damage to the frame and wheels, as well as having painful legs. In my opinion this is a very dangerous issue and I could of easily fallen into the road with severe consequences for myself and my bike. If this is meant to be a step change used to segregate the cycle way, then it is wholly unfit for purpose as the lip is not big enough to provide this kind of segregation and is too small to gauge whilst transferring from carriage way to cycle way. If this is not intended as a step change then the lip needs to be smoothed out to prevent this from happening again. I hope this will be rectified quickly before a more serious accident occurs.
Kind Regards Matt Scammell
