Fallen branch - Magdalen Gardens
Reported via desktop in the Trees and woodland category by Bath and North East Somerset Council at 09:52, Wednesday 28 July 2021
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2896350.
Large branch has fallen off a Chestnut tree into the woods. One section of the tree is dead and the remainder doesn't look healthy.
If it would fall it would on to the path.
Thank you very much for reporting this fallen limb. We had already been informed and are taking action. The trees on all council owned sites are regularly visited by our qualified Tree Inspector, with frequency of inspection apportioned commensurate to level of occupancy or use, this site being on a 3 yearly rotation. The trees are assessed primarily with regard to public safety and risk management, to control risk to an acceptable level. We aim to retain trees wherever practical, due to the importance of trees in our landscape for amenity, health environmental and ecological benefits. We use a system called QTRA to determine acceptable risk level, as well as high levels of experience and qualification in our staff. The tree in question is now scheduled for removal, and at present does not pose an unacceptable risk.
