Stream in Lyncombe Vale

Reported via mobile in the Flooding of a road or pavement category anonymously at 11:30, Tue 10 August 2021

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2925910.

Stream was blocked and overflowed on to road and pavement at the Daisy Bank end of Lyncombe Vale on the evening of Monday 9th August. Fortunately neighbours were able to clear it so an emergency was averted. We feel it needs checking to avoid this happening again. Thank you

  • The leaves and debris brought down by the storm have blocked the stream. Any rain will wash these onto the grate opposite 1 Daisybank and flood the pavement and road. The grate at Paragon school end of Lyncombe vale was recently emptied, however the grate opposite 1 Daisybank wasn't.

  • The stream in Lyncombe Vale was ‘cleared’ by contractors several weeks ago. Did anyone check their work afterwards? The job was not done well and many leaves were left in the stream and piles of leaves were left on the pavement which soon blew into the stream. These then flow in the direction of the water and stack up at the Daisybank end of the road causing a blockage which then overflows. Maintenance has been reduced over the last few years but should be made more regular again or at the very least done properly.
