Blocked Drain - Reported 13th May 2021

Reported via desktop in the Blocked drain: Blockage inside drain category by R Slinner at 11:44, Sun 15 August 2021

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2936369.

The first photo shows a water leaking outside 548a Bath Road which is crossing the pavement and running down the gutter into a drain. (Bristol Water advised) The second photo shows the water emerging from the drain outside 576 Bath Road (previously reported in May 2021) and then running along the road into the next drain. This water is extending into the road and being splashed by traffic onto the footpath. Clearly this is caused by a blockage and I would add the next drain is not well placed as the water is also going around it and pooling at the bottom of the Folly! No wonder there are issues there when we have heavy rain.(also reported)

  • This remains outstanding, the net result is flooding on the carriageway until the water finds the next clear drain. Therefore there remains the potential of aquaplaning and a result accident! Also the footpath gets sprayed by passing vehicles in heavy rain. Photo taken today. There is a mixture of leaves and gravel blocking this drain.

  • Will this be an unexpected Christmas present to find it cleared. Clearly road safety (laying water on road) is not a high priority?

  • Clearly I was not on you Christmas present list as yesterday the rain caused a large amount of surface water on the Bristol bound carriageway as this issue remains unaddressed Perhaps I need to get this sorted out by a private contractor and send you the bill. I think we are way past 26 working days which by my reckoning was 21st June 2021!
