Water running across pavement

Reported via mobile in the Flooding of a road or pavement category anonymously at 19:48, Thursday 9 September 2021

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 2991293.

Hey, thought i better flag this up before it becomes a problem in the winter, there is water regularly running across the pavement here, seemingly from a natural spring, in the winter it will freeze and make pavement very dangerous, it is right next to zebra crossing. An aco drain and connection to highways drainage would solve it.

  • Hello, water still running across pavement, starting to develop algae, will soon be slippery and dangerous. Happy to meet with your engineer when they come out to review and discuss options.

  • Hello, thank you for your report, the Local Highway Authority maintain the existing highway drainage and would not connect other sources of water into the highway drainage system. The water shown in your photo and our Highway Inspector confirmed onsite appeared to be the result of either a Wessex Water asset or a private water leak. Wessex Water were advised of this report initially and are following this up. If upon repair of the private leak the water is still visible, Wessex Water can arrange for an inspector to attend and investigate. In terms of the build-up of algae and any other slippery surface conditions of the pavement, our Cleansing team will attend to this and jet the surface to make sure it is safe.
