High/overgrown tree canopy near private owned homes

Reported via desktop in the Trees and woodland category anonymously at 11:45, Tuesday 21 September 2021

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3015383.

This issue was reported appox 3-4 years ago. The trees located in public land at the rear of properties of Sunnymead have become too large/high. The trees currently block out sun to the rear gardens and properties. Residents also have a concern as the the potential risk of property damage should any of the trees experience weather damage. A heavily used road (Northmead Road) that runs the length of Sunnymead properties would also experience closure should one of these trees fall/branches break into the road.

Updates

  • The trees along this section had extensive works including some essential felling carried out in July 2020 and were inspected in May 2021. The trees do not require height reduction as in good condition and the risk of failure is low. For more information regarding trees on adjacent land please go to the Tree FAQs on the council's website.
