Incorrect road sign - Please can you remove?

Reported via desktop in the Street light fault category by Bath and North East Somerset Council at 14:58, Wednesday 20 October 2021

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3074373.

Resident reports "There is a road sign on the path next to our row of houses which says “humps for 3/4 mile”. There are no humps on Holcombe Lane (not sure whether there ever were?) and I wonder whether this sign could be removed please? It’s confusing for drivers and doesn’t seem to serve any purpose. It’s also lit at night so probably causes some light pollution and uses unnecessary power. If it’s not needed then it seems sensible to remove it. The sign is situated on the pavement outside number 15 Holcombe Lane on the right hand side just before you reach the shops. It is visible as you drive back down Holcombe Lane (i.e. back towards Down Lane and towards Bath)."

  • We have looked into this matter and confirm the sign is there to warning drivers of the speed humps on Down Lane. The sign is in its current location due to lack of adequate footway nearer the junction with Down Lane. We are sorry that in this instance we are unable to move the sign closer to the junction in question.
