  • This edge line is dangerous. It pushes cars to the centre of the road on a bend, and is effectively a pavement to nowhere. It gives pedestrians a false sense of safety - encouraging them to walk with traffic instead of against as the Highway Code states, but the line provides no safety whatsoever. There is not enough room for two cars to pass without one crossing the line. Therefore, a car travelling southwest forces a car heading northeast over the white line, which a pedestrian may well not be expecting due to the perception the white line is a boundary for cars.
