Chicane on a blind bend

Reported via mobile in the Dangerous road surface (including ice, mud, spillage or debris) category anonymously at 10:54, Thursday 24 March 2022

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3412549.

Following the recent cycle lane work (which I fully support), someone has chosen to place a chicane on a blind bend. I’m theory, cars should be approaching slowly but this has been a 50mph road for decades. My wife edged out today and was met by a truck doing at least 30mph. It’s only a matter of time before there’s a head on accident. It either needs removing or manning with a full time traffic officer who can see around the bend and call traffic forward when it’s safe.

  • The chicanes at this point in Walley Lane present the danger of head-on collisions, as the sight-lines are foreshortened. I had to brake this morning 7.5.22 to avoid collision with a car which was coming towards me (it did not have priority). This road layout is dangerous and liable to cause collisions, especially with the farm traffic which uses this road.
