Each day, the bin which is positioned opposite the Spar in Beckford Drive, Lansdown Road Bath, has its contents spilled out onto the pavement due to foxes looking for food in the night.

Reported via desktop in the Litter bin full category anonymously at 09:29, Wednesday 27 July 2022

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3709969.

Dear team, Each day, the bin which is positioned opposite the Spar in Beckford Drive, Lansdown Road Bath, has its contents spilled out onto the pavement due to foxes looking for food in the night.

Today, there are numerous dog poo bags on the pavement which is not good.

I am aware that the bin is not a council bin and I have emailed Vistry who are still on site at Ensleigh to tell them that if the bin is to remain in situ then the bin needs to be an anti fox / anti seagull bin to stop all the rubbish being pulled out every night. However, as the rubbish is on the pavement I think you should be made aware of the constant problem which occurs with this particular bin.

I think Vistry employ a private contractor to empty the bin every 2 weeks but this does not help the daily occurrence of rubbish being splaid all over the pavement. As this is a hygiene issue due to the rubbish appearing to be dog poo bags, please can I request the BANES team to clear the rubbish as soon as possible. Every person that visits the Spar on the estate whether driving or walking will drive past this rubbish and see the unsightly sight. It won’t be long before the seagulls will come and try to open all of the poo bags that are on the pavement I’m sure.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter, Copied to Lucy Hodge and Mark Elliot for them to include in their monthly news flyer about Lansdown. Kind regards,
