Manor road community woodland south middle tyning

Overgrown field with lots of dog poo! I have reported this problem before and have recently received an email to say it has been resolved, the field has certainly not been cut at all !!

  • Hello. We did cut all of the areas of grass that need cutting in Manor Road Woodland in November (including the area shown in this photo) and it looks like these photos were taken at some point in the autumn when there were still leaves on the trees. But ultimately, Manor Road Woodland is a Local Nature Reserve and we want to provide a mixture of habitats - woodland, hay meadows and areas of long grass and scrub which provides habitats for wildlife - so the aim is not to provide large areas of short grass as we would do in a park.

    It's unfortunate when people don't pick up dog poo because they can't find it in long grass or because its more difficult to collect but we can't risk removing all potential habitat just to make poo easier to find. There is lots of advice online about training dogs to poo in more appropriate areas and we all need to reinforce the message that our open spaces are there for people and wildlife (and not dog toilets)..
