Bathwick hill
Reported via desktop in the Road sign damage category anonymously at 10:41, Thu 10 November 2022
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3952078.
I have previously sent you a query regarding road signage on Bathwick Hill see ref below Re: We have responded to your enquiry: HW-1109206/TRM Thanks for your speedy response however you have not responded to the fact that at the moment it is extremely unclear what the speed limit is on Bathwick Hill. When you are travelling down Bathwick Hill there is a large sign painted on the road informing drivers that they are entering a 30 mph zone. However shortly after this there are a couple of small signs which are not very visible indicating that the speed limit is 20mph. This is misleading and dangerous. Surely the 20mph signs should remain covered until they are in place the full length of the Hill and the painted sign on the road is removed. Thanks Barbara Luetchford

There are now tiny signs stating 20mph along the full length of Bathwick Hill. However if you are driving up the Hill they are not very visible. Yesterday as the signs are now the full length of the Hill I obeyed them and was rewarded by a motorist overtaking myself and another motorist behind me at speed. It was very dangerous. I think that there needs to be a sign in the road at the bottom of the Hill so that people can be in no doubt. Is the new speed limit in force yet? This is a matter of discussion amongst my neighbours. Confused. Barbara Luetchford
