Poor lighting Elliston Drive Footpath

Reported via desktop in the Street light fault category anonymously at 17:13, Wed 16 November 2022

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3969722.

This is an issue that I have flagged before. Street lights DO NOT light up this footpath, you are having to use mobile phone torches to see where the steps are. It dangerous & considering we have a lot of HMO’s around this area I worry for the safety of females using the footpath at night.

  • We have carried out an inspection of this footpath and our lights. The lights have been found to be working correctly and we noted that there are overgrown trees from private gardens causing shadows on the path. The offending trees are not obstructing the lantern themselves so in our view it is the amount of overgrowth making the lane appear darker than it should be. Also, we note there is a large amount of leaf mulch on the footpath making the steps hazardous.

We can confirm we have passed this information to our Highways Team to assess and review to vegetation, and they will also raise this with the cleansing team to clear the footpath of the mulch. We hope this information is of help. This report is now closed but we can add further information if needs be.
