Blocked culvert leading to surface water

Reported via desktop in the Flooding of a road or pavement category anonymously at 20:03, Sat 26 November 2022

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 3996170.

The culvert at the west side of Ashton Hill is blocked where it should take the water under the road to the open fields on the east side. This leads to considerable surface water which will become a problem if it freezes. The colvert and under road drain needs clearing out.

  • The problem is not a drain under th road, but a blocked ditch leading to the highways drain grill. The soft verge has collapsed into the previously clear ditch completely blocking it. The water flowing across the road has lifted the tarmac and exposed the sub-base. The ditch needs to either be replaced by drain pipes or the ditch cleared and a hard verge added to stop the problem reoccurring
