Manhole collapsing

Reported via desktop in the Manhole & drain cover damage category anonymously at 10:29, Wednesday

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 4168646.

Located between Number 50 and 52 Bristol Road, the manhole cover and surround has started to collapse. It is now causing terrible vibration noises when a large vehicle drives over it, it has now started to shake the houses, and feels similar to an earthquake several times a day and night. I would say it has been an issue for around 4 weeks and getting worse by the day due to the amount of lorries currently using the road.

  • I have had a closer look this lunchtime and a further manhole cover outside number 52 Bristol Road is also starting to sink and a separate pot hole about a foot away has appeared too, this could be the reason for the for the noise from the traffic as any vehicle will drive over all 3 problems at any one time
