Handrail on steps vandalised and missing
Reported via mobile in the Park safety issue category anonymously at 16:26, Thu 9 February 2023
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 4218509.
The handrail alongside the steps in Free Fields Woods has been vandalised and knocked down. The opposite side handrail is missing having been kicked down a few years ago. The steps are used daily by many people who need help going up and down them and so please can the rails be repaired or replaced as a matter of urgency.

Hi. I'm really sorry but there is currently a freeze on all but essential spend within the Parks Team.
As this is a woodland with undulating ground throughout and wide steps at this location, it would be useful to know how many people actually make use of this handrail to be able to justify expenditure on this compared to, say, replacing a swing seat in a children's play area, or removing gates from a park to park the space more accessible for wheelchair users.
I'm also concerned that this will be vandalised again, and that investing in a piece of furniture that does not seem to be essential would be a poor decision if there is a high risk that it will be vandalised again in the future.
Can you please provide some more information as to why this needs to be repaired and we can look into it..
Thanks..
