This ancient above ground drain works well in Lyncombe Vale Road as the road slopes downwards. Unfortunately it is blocked with leaves and weeds as it has not been swept for a long time. See photos. This is not only a practical and efficient drain which removes excess rainwater but also a heritage monument. An example of how drains used to work historically. It needs cleaning to work.
