Ash tree on public land overhanging my house

Reported via desktop in the Trees and woodland category anonymously at 11:23, Fri 10 March 2023

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 4297917.

An ash tree that is growing on the verge next to Rosemary Lane behind my home has several branches overhanging my 2 large skylight windows which are located directly over my bed. The tree seems healthy so I would not like to see it cut down per se, but there is growing concern over these big branches - if they drop they could potentially shatter my windows. The issue has increasingly become apparent as the tree has grown. Location: behind Sharpstone Studio, Rosemary Lane, Freshford, BA2 7UF

  • The trees in this area are due to be routinely inspected in April 2023. Any works identified in the inspection will be included in the tree works programme.

    State changed to: Action scheduled

  • Hello, regarding this work requested 10 March 2023 Council ref 4297917 to remove branches that overhang my skylights which are directly over my bed, no work has been undertaken, though it is said action was scheduled in April 2023. I would be most grateful to receive an update on this. Twigs and smaller branches fall down often but last night a bigger section of branch fell which created a very big bang. Thankfully the glass held. Please would you give this some priority. Many thanks, Hedevig Blakstad

  • Ash tree is in routine works programme to be felled as has symptoms of the early stages of Ash Dieback disease. This work is due to be carried out later this year.

  • Thank you for this, though sorry to hear it is to be felled. It is used by the birds a lot in the early morning. Will l be notified before felling? I am still concerned about the overhanging branches, especially when the branches are in leaf. Additionally leaf litter on the roof and noice from big droplets of rain on the windows.
