Junction of the north end of Oak Street and Lower Bristol Road

Reported via mobile in the Potholes & road surface category by Shelagh Mary Hillier at 12:27, Thursday 23 March 2023

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 4345340.

Contractors who were digging a trench along the Lower Bristol Road ( from mid Jan 2023 to Mid Feb) left without resurfacing the trench they dug across the entire width of the north end of Oak Street. They have only filled it with soil and stone which is now washing away and leaving very hazardous potholes - several approx 30cm square. Having blocked that end of Oak Street for 5 weeks we assumed, that when they completed the works and left the site, they would make good the road surface with tarmac. Tarmac was laid in the trench along the Lower Bristol road and the pavements on both the west and east side of Oak Street but not the trench in Oak Street itself. This trench is now becoming hazardous especially for cyclists, e-scooters and pedestrians. If not repaired quickly it will also damage cars. this is a busy street providing access not only for residents, but the adjacent office block. Please arrange for the contractors - who dug up the road - to return and make good their repairs asap before a serious accident occurs.
