Very poor condition

I am writing again to exspress my concern about the extremely poor state of Highfield Lane in Compton Martin. Having just walked up and down the lane. I noticed that one drain was completely blocked and several were partially blocked. In the centre of the lane just above Valley View the surface is rising up and water was coming out. There was also a deep hole, at least 12 inches, on the side of the road just above the drain. Towards the end of last week one of your drain cleaning lorries came up the lane and the operators assured me that all drains had been cleaned. They also said that the main drain had been severed by Gigaclear when they installed wifi cabling several years ago and has yet to be repaired. There is a considerable amount of debris on either side of the lane which was not cleared by your road sweeper when it came, possibly last year. I accept that some of this debris could have blocked the drains in the last few days, but I think it unlikely. In this lane there are many potholes, particularly on the sides of the road which have not been maintained for many years. These collect a considerable amount of debris which can move down the lane during heavy storms. While I appreciate that road sweeping and pothole maintenance are in different departments I would have thought that it would be beneficial to have cooperation between the two. Please would someone in authority carefully inspect and rectify the condition on this lane as it has several school busses and a considerable amount of traffic using it as a short cut between the top of Mendip and the Yeo and Chew Valley.
