Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 4431351.
The lane from Hinton Blewett to our cottage is full of potholes and in parts covered in grit, in particular outside our cottage on a very sharp bend in the lane. This grit has washed down from the lane as it descends from Hinton Blewett and settles outside our cottage. This has now blocked all the drains. At present even a modest rainfall will result in the lane flooding , especially outside our cottage. This now blocks both our front gate and rear drive and severely restricts our access . Also a large amount of mud often deposits on the lane , which again settles outside our access points, is a skid hazard as it is on a sharp bend and often requires removing by myself. This is a long standing problem as the lane verges have been allowed to grow into the lane, the drains are rarely cleaned out and the road surface is steadily disintegrating. We have reported this several times in the last couple of years but as yet nothing has been done to rectify the problem long term.

The road in this area is getting worse. Coley Hill is soon to be closed, this will undoubtedly be used by locals as an alternative route therefore will become worse with more usage. When flooded the pot holes cannot be seen which is dangerous to all road users.

This problem has NOT been fixed in fact it has got worse. Several of the drains on this stretch of lane between Hinton Blewett and Litton are completely blocked (mainly by gravel from the disintegrating road surface) so the lane turns into a river during wet weather - a serious accident will happen if the problem is not fixed properly. You placed a traffic cone on the vital drain on the corner many months ago and nothing has happened since then except that the cone is virtually covered by the hedge now and barely visible by passing traffic. Also the drain grill is seriously rusted with half of it missing. All the drains on this lane need attention - clearing and cutting back of the encroaching banks. We would be very happy to meet an engineer on site to discuss the problem.
