Mirror is on church lane, opposite the entrance to Green Pastures, postcode BA27JE, if approaching from Brassknocker Hill before 20mph sign

Reported via mobile in the Road sign damage category anonymously at 17:54, Wednesday 31 May 2023

Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 4616518.

Mirror is broken. Needed fixed as cars exiting property cannot see down lane without it and some vehicles go quite fast, especially during rush hour as it's used to avoid traffic congestion in Combe Down North Road

  • Unfortunately, the Council is unable to erect mirrors on the public highway, in accordance with guidance issued by the Department for Transport. Aside from longer-term cleaning and maintenance issues (including vandalism), the image in a convex mirror can be misleading, particularly when trying to judge the speed of approaching vehicles. It can also be difficult to see cyclists on the edge of the image, motorists can sometimes become overly dependent on the mirror (rather than using traditional methods of looking and listening for approaching traffic), and there can be issues associated with glare from sunlight and headlights.

State changed to: No further action
