This is no longer a lake it’s a pool of mud with rats and rubbish everywhere! If a child was to fall in this not only would it be a health hazard but a child would struggle to get out.

We are currently tendering for suppliers to remove the silt from the ponds (we estimate up to 950m3 of silt) and are planning for this work to start in Autumn/winter 2023. It has taken a number of years to find a contractor to undertake the work and to find a budget.
Before the silt is removed, an aquatics specialist will net and catch all of the remaining fish in the ponds and re-locate them. The ponds will then be drained and the silt moved to another location in the park where it will be fenced and allowed to settle; and then subsequently landscaped into part of the public park. This approach will avoid the carbon footprint of transporting large volumes of waste elsewhere. Unfortunately there is no easy source of water that can be captured to restore a water flow into the cascades and ponds and so far we’ve been unable to find a reliable, year-round supply. Please bear with us in the meantime,
