Blocked drains between Manor Farm Barnes & the Whitchurch village sign BS14
Reported via mobile in the Flooding of a road or pavement category anonymously at 17:08, Mon 18 September 2023
Sent to Bath and North East Somerset Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 5006959.
I reported this problem of blocked drains back in April 23 and was very surprised to receive a email from you this morning (18.9.2023) to say that your contractor had now completed the work, I was surprised as on my way to work at 11.48 this morning I noticed that these drains were still full of leaves, stones & rubbish, but I gave it the benefit of doubt and would look again on my way home and just as I thought, out of 4 drains between manor farm barns & the Whitchurch village sign on Staunton/Stockwood lane 3 we’re still blocked. I’m not sure which contractor you have used but they have certainly not unblocked the drains and as we are heading towards the winter this problem of road flooding along this stretch of lane is only going to get worse. I and many of the public that have to use this stretch of public highway to get from Whitchurch village to Stockwood for work or the shops would be really grateful if this could be sorted asap.

This is the road that people have to walk along to get from Whitchurch to Stockwood, it is a very busy road as cars, vans & lorries use it as a short cut to Stockwood and down over the hill to Keynsham & Brislington and they go at some speed, I had to run the gamut trying to pass these huge puddles without getting soaked (the young chap behind me wasn’t so lucky) and this happens each time we get a bit of rain. please please please when is the flooding and unblocking of drains going to be sorted. Also the state of the pavement is so bad it’s covered in sticks from the over hanging foliage, small stones from the breaking down of the road, it has raised manhole covers, sunken manhole covers and broken off branches that could easily hurt someone, my umbrella kept getting caught on brambles that are hanging down and I have to walk this route 5 days a week to get to work.
