I was visting Bath with friends and unfortunately my trip was ruined by tropping over the obstacle on this picture. This event took place on Victoria Bridge on Sunday 15 Oct.

I was fortunate enough not to have more injuries and my friends and the public who came to my aid were amazing. We were unable to find paramedic assistance due to the Bath marathon and it was the help of the City Tour bus guides who were on duty who helped with medical wipes. A local policeman stopped on his bike but couldn't help with finding medical aid. I have never experienced such pain with a fall and I am still suffering whiplash pain from how I fell. My hand and one knee took most of my weight during the fall. My face also hitting the metal frame. My face is bruised. Swolen and my top lip has been cut outside and inside and still swolen. If this had happened to an older person or a young child it could have been worse. I'm still upset and anxious about what could have happened. I had a very uncomfortable journey on my flight home to Glasgow, my lip was bleeding most of the time. If you do need more information in relation to the incident please ask. I look forward to receiving some guidance on how I lodge a claim against BANE Council.

  • I am still suffering with neck and shoulder pain since my fall. Also got scar on my face/lip which I do hope will fade in time. I did visit my doc as worried about my hand due to swollen knuckles, she confirmed the gand was badly bruised and the neck and shoulder pain was caused with me trying to break my fall.

    I would be grateful if you could update me urgently on progress of this complaint/injury claim. I am reminded every day of the event as I now have a prominent scar/bump left on my top lip which I need to try and cover up. I look like I have a permanent coldsore which is distressing and adding to my anxiety. Please reach out to me if you need more information.
